Upamanyu Dutta receiving his trophy from Cdr. Abhimanyu Patankar

Mumbai: Yet again, Upamanyu Dutta has proved his worth. Leading the first two races right from the start, Upamanyu won the Asia Pacific Boating Regatta 2011 in his own style.

Not far behind was Chintan Chhatbar (MYC), winner of the Optimist Inland Nationals last month, who finished second overall. Upamanyu, who was in Malaysia for the Optimist World Championship during the Inland Nationals, remained a class apart from the rest displaying excellent sailing. He has already started grooming himself for the upcoming World Championship to be held in New Zealand this December. Everyone has high expectations from him now.

Racing in J24 class was a battle between Arjuna Awardees. J24 class featured all the top guns of Indian sailing from legendary sailor Homi Motivala to the current champion R Mahesh. Brothers Aashim & Nitin Mongia competed against each other. R Mahesh won the four race series comfortably while Homi Motivala finished second.
