Mumbai: The fifth edition of the Mumbai International Boat Show is upon us, and having seen four progressively successful editions since 2007, this year’s event seems assured of success. Included in the prestigious International Boat Industry (IBI) Boat Show Calendar, MIBS has always and continues to highlight India’s evolving leisure boating sector; it’s no wonder then that past exhibitors are back in full force, joined by several new players in the market. MIBS 2011 will be held from February 24 to 27, on a 10,000 sq metre land exhibit at the sprawling MMRDA grounds in Bandra Kurla Complex.
The MIBS 2011 was inaugurated today in Mumbai by Maharashtra PWD and Tourism Minister Shri. Chhagan Bhujbal who said, “India has 7,600kms of coastline but this is untapped due to lack of Infrastructure. We should jointly think towards exploring the potential of the boating industry and provide aid in constructing Marina’s”. The MIBS 2011 has 60 exhibitors with 78 brands on display. At MIBS 2011 Expect to see a vast array of day boats, speed boats, security boats, personal watercrafts (PWC), kayaks, boating accessories, marine engines, marine toys and larger, more luxurious boats, luxury yachts and sail boats in the price range of 10 lacs – 70 crores. Over 20,000 visitors to MIBS 2011 will include several HNIs, marine industry professionals and enthusiasts.
In addition to receiving official backing and sanction from the Government of Maharashtra, Indian Coast Guard, Yachting Association of India, Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation, Mumbai Port Trust and the Indian Trade Promotion Organisation, MIBS 2011 has also received the support from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
