Vishnu Saravanan , who took to sailing just two years ago, won his first National Coastal Optimist title at Cherai beach in Kerala. The 11 year- old Vellore-born sailor representing CESC Pune, took four bullets in the ten race series, to win the title.
Along with the overall title, he won the Chougule trophy for finishing first in under-12 category and also received the Best Boy Sailor award.
Vishnu, a student of the Army School in Mumbai, spends most of his time after school training on the water almost every day. A week before the Nationals, he trained under the Performance Sailing Program of RBYC.
“I am feeling very confident after winning the nationals and my immediate goal is sail well in the IODA Asian Championship at Singapore and finish in the top 10”, said Vishnu.
