Trunal Helegaonkar & Suraj Singh – Joint Sailor of the Month – June 2011

Trunal Helegaonkar and Suraj Singh transformed their undoubted talent into a national title at the Enterprise Inlands in Pune last month. They looked unstoppable at this year’s championship winning races in the most challenging and tricky conditions on Khadakwasla Lake.

Suraj and Trunal have been sailing together since 2005 and have won 3 national titles at junior level. The title at this year’s nationals was their first in the open fleet. Both of them are currently on the Indian Match Racing team for 2011.

In addition to their mastery on the race course, their actions and manner off the water have set them apart. Always gracious in victory and defeat, they find a way to treat everyone with respect. Respectful to all the race officials and competitors they set a great example for every sailor.

Still fresh from winning their first Open title, they are ones again standing on the threshold of more wins and more medals. Next on their list this year is the Match Racing and 420 class title.
