Vishnu Sarvanan finished 6th in the Asian sailing Championship 2012 and won a bronze medal at the Langkawi International Regatta 2012 in Optimist class, last month at Malaysia.
A total of 20 selected Optimist sailors from Asia competed in the boys category in the Asian Sailing championship while the Langkawi Regatta featured a strong fleet of 92 boats.
“To get 6th in the extremely competitive boys fleet was beyond our expectations by a large margin. It is a position that we have never before achieved”, said YAI Chief Coach Pete Conway on his blog.
With three more years left in the optimist class, Vishnu dreams of winning India’s first Optimist gold at the Asian Games in 2014.
