Israel: The Eilat Regatta took place over 3 days in the beautiful city of Eilat in Israel, in the Red Sea. Sailors were welcomed with sunny skies and very strong winds from the shore. All the top Israeli Laser Radial boys and girls competed in the nine race series.
Rohini Rau won a Bronze among the women and was placed 10th overall.
A total of 31 competitors, including 10 women took part in the event. Nufar Edelman – 2008 Olympian, who has qualified for the 2012 Olympics also competed in the event.
This was Rohini’s first event under the guidance of Israeli coach Eshed Meseritz. “She started with a very slow first day but showed improvement both in her speed and in her starts. She kept improving and on the second day managed to cling on to the top with the highlight of a 2nd place finish in race number 6. She even rolled Nufar off the starting line in 35 knots.” says the delighted Coach.
Rohini is now on her way to Europe to take part in the European circuit. She will compete in regattas in Koper in Slovenia and Lake Garda in Italy before heading back to Tel Aviv, Israel for more training in April.
